87 people have tested positive for the Covid-19 in Kenya, from a sample size of 3,766 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing to 98,271 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country. The cumulative tests are now 1,092,144.
In a statement on Sunday, the Ministry of Health said 67 patients have recovered from the disease, 55 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 12 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 80,875. 6 patients have succumbed to the disease pushing the cumulative fatalities to 1,710.
Currently, there are 676 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 2,142 on Home Based Isolation and Care. 32 patients are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 20 of whom are on ventilatory support and 11 on supplemental oxygen and 1 is on observation. 11 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen and are in the general wards, while no patient is in the High Dependency Unit.
The distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 36, Busia 17, Uasin Gishu 6, Mombasa 6, Kilifi 5, Homa Bay 3, Kwale 2, Kisumu 2, Nakuru 2, Machakos 1, Taita Taveta 1, Kiambu 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Nyeri 1, Isiolo 1, Kakamega 1 and Makueni 1.
The Health Ministry said a total of 3,068 healthcare workers have been confirmed positive since the pandemic struck. 1,571 are females and 1,495 males. To date 32 have succumbed to the disease.
