Jack Mukhongo Munialo, a Ford Kenya member has written a letter to the registrar of political parties asking about the membership of Joseph Wekesa alias Majimbo Kalasinga who was nominated to vie on Ford Kenya ticket in the coming by-election in Kabuchai constituency on 4th March 2021.
It’s alleged that Majimbo is still a Jubilee member. He vied on a Jubilee ticket in 2017 in the general elections and lost to the late James Lusweti Mukwe.
Majimbo Kalasinga won the Ford Kenya party primaries held on Tuesday 5th January 2021 at Musese in Kabuchai CDF offices where he garnered 70 votes against his opponent Nakuru Town Deputy County Commissioner Erick Wanyonyi, who got 32 votes.
Majimbo has the support of Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula. Initially, Bungoma Deputy Governor Charles Ngome had said in a funeral in Kanduyi constituency that Ford Kenya won’t field a candidate in Kabuchai and Matungu constituencies. The seats in the two constituencies became vacant following the deaths of area MPs James Mukwe and Justus Murunga respectively.
Ford Kenya party has had wrangles pitting two factions, that ended in the law courts; one side is led by Ford Kenya party leader who is also Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and the other led by Ford Kenya Secretary General, Tongaren MP Dr. Eseli Simiyu and Bungoma County Ford Kenya Chairperson who is also Kanduyi constituency MP Wafula Wamunyinyi.
