The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Nandi County branch has insisted that the strike is still on and the position won’t change until their grievances are addressed.

KNUN officials from the region led by the branch secretary Amos Ng’etich said issues like comprehensive medical cover, availability of PPEs among others must be solved first, “We have the right to go on with the strike until our demands are met,” he said.

They said the government hasn’t bene transparent in dealing with nurses issues, citing the case in 2017 when the nurse and the government agreed on a return to work formula which wasn’t fully implemented.

This comes even as doctors and clinical officers resumed work after agreeing deals with the national government. The healthcare workers’ industrial action had caused serious health service delivery issues in the Counties, with patients bearing the weight.
