The unknown whereabouts of West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has left residents guessing on what might have happened to the County boss.
A section of residents in the County have raised concerns over the Governor’s presence, who was has been absent from his office since 17th December, and he isn’t accessible through the phone.
The County’s deputy governor Dr. Nicholas Atudonyang on the other hand has been absent for three years now. He lives in the US and had strained issues with the Governor.
On the other hand, the County Secretary Dr. Mike Parklea isn’t available after being interdicted for alleged corruption charges.
The locals led by a politician, Mr. Dennis Kapchok alias Mulmulwas, pointed out that the County secretary should come out and tell residents the whereabouts of the Governor.
According to Kapchok, residents are now worried because of Lonyangapuo’s absence, “Locals are wondering who is now in charge of the County activities in acting capacity,” he said.
Before his silent retreat, Governor Lonyangapuo conducted a series of political meetings across the County. The last time he addressed the press was on 16th December during a function at Tapach ward where he was distributing modern cows to boost milk production in the County.
The following day he attended an elders meeting in Kanyarkwa and Sarmach areas then later in the evening he joined Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC) fraternity at a farewell dinner for outgoing UN Resident Coordinator Siddarth Chettarjee at the residence of Swiss Ambassador in Nairobi.
