The county government of Busia and West Pokot have today passed the BBI Bill. The County Assemblies of the two counties passed the constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill today making the total number of counties that have approved the Bill to five.
Homa Bay, Kisumu and Saiya were among the first counties to pass the Bill.
West Pokot is now the first county in the Rift Valley to pass the bill. This makes the number of counties who have voted for the bill to six out of 47 counties with only 24 counties required to pass it.
So far, only one county is opposed to the Bill. Baringo rejected it last week in a dramatic and chaotic session.
