Webuye West legislature Dan Wanyama has called on president Uhuru Kenyatta to be tolerant with his deputy Dr. William Ruto for the sake of peace in the country. Addressing salvation army church faithfuls in Sirisia Salvation Army Church in Misikhu ward in Webuye West constituency, Wanyama said its quite outrageous for the president to say he will not leave the presidency to his deputy saying he is a thief, terming the statement as uncalled for from the person who is the position of the Head of State. He added that there are many avenues to address their issues and differences if there are any.

Wanyama says that the two have had a great relationship until the handshake happened which he claims has contributed to the frosty and asked the president to look back on where they as Jubilee party have come from and find a way of fostering the friendship with his deputy and the party leadership as a whole in order to move forward in terms of development. He reiterated his strong support for the deputy president in his guest to be the next and fifth president of the Republic of Kenya and said he is the only candidate who can help the Western region if given an opportunity.

The honorable added that he has been of great support for the region unlike other leaders who have only taken the region for a ride and after elections they do away with them. ” Am appealing for western people to support the deputy president as he has good plans for Western region and given an opportunity we will experience enough development to take this region to the next development level.” He said.

Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati

However, in a quick rejoinder, Bungoma county governor Wycliffe Wangamati asked all leaders to mind what they say in public as it may culminate into hate saying every leader deserves respect. Wangamati insisted that the president must be respected by all leaders as he is the symbol of unity and president to everyone terming some leaders remarks towards the president as unwarranted and uncalled for.

” Both sides of the political divide must respect each other for the sake of peace and tranquility in this country but most importantly is all of us leaders must respect the president as a symbol of national unity and so let’s mind what we speak in public because the country is going through hard economic moments and what we need is peace, “said Wangamati.
