As the fourth March by election in Kabuchai constituency draws closer, several candidates in the race to capture the seat have called upon the independent electoral and boundaries commission to be transparent so as to attain credible results.

United Democratic Party (UDA) candidate Evans Kakai says the commission should publish the voters register as well as the polling stations claiming that history in the constituency has had issues with poll results.

His sentiments were echoed by UDP candidate Jeremiah Marakiah who said the initial voter register should not in any way be tempered with saying it is the decision of the people of Kabuchai to elect a leader of their own choice whom they feel will work better.

Kakai further claimed that top police officers in charge of main police stations in the constituency have been reshuffled a few days before the by election saying this comes a few days after some top politicians visited the constituency to drum up support for one candidate adding that it sounds fishy.

However he said together with other candidates they will be visiting the county commissioners office to ascertain the situation. noting that the by election in the constituency needs to be transparent.

Other candidates including Ford Kenya’s Majimbo Kalasinga, FPK’s Amos Wekesa, among others are still traversing the constituency to hunt for votes.
