A sorrowful mood engulfed Iduku village in Mautuma location, Lugari Sub County after an elderly woman was raped before being murdered in cold blood by unknown assailants.
The decomposing body of Jesca Anene who lives alone was discovered by neighbors locked inside her house on Thursday afternoon.
According to the neighbors, they got concerned after failing to see her since Monday and efforts to reach her through her cellphone being futile.
They said for the past three days they have been taking care of her livestock hoping she will come back but all was in vain.
On Thursday afternoon, a neighbor’s child stumbled on a key that had been thrown near Mrs. Anene’s gate and informed her parents who later opened the door where they were welcomed by an odorous smell.
On looking in the bedroom they were shocked to find the naked body which had injuries on the private parts lying near a broken bed with household items scattered all over the house.
Police officers from Turbo police station removed the body and took it to Moi Teaching and Referral Mortuary Eldoret for postmortem as they launched investigations into the incident.
