1,064 test positive for Covid-19

The Ministry of Health has today reported 1,064 positive Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours with the total positive cases now at 115,031. The cases reported were from 1,379,990 cumulative tests conducted today. 964 being Kenyans while 100 foreigners.

From the reported cases 558 are males, 506 females, the youngest case being a two-year-old-baby and the oldest 91 years old. The capital reported the highest number standing at 681, Kiambu County accumulated 93, Nakuru 69, Uasin Gishu 40, Kisumu 25, Busia 20, Machakos 17, Kericho 17, Mombasa 15, Nyeri 10, Kirinyaga 8, Isiolo 5, Mandera 5, Laikipia 4, Turkana 4, Nandi 4, Meru 4, Elgeyo Marakwet 3, Migori 3, Siaya 3, Embu 1, Kakamega 1, Kwale 1, Marsabit 1, Murang’a 1, Narok 1, Nyamira 1, Nyandarua 1, Tharaka Nithi 1, Baringo 1 and Bomet 1 respectively.

Currently, 185 patients have so far recovered from the disease among which 149 are from Home-Based and Isolation Care while 36 are from various health facilities in the country, making the total number of recoveries rise to 88,781. Unfortunately, 7 patients died from the disease hence the number of fatalities rising to 1,925.

The ministry reported that 2,223 patients were on Home-Based Isolation and care while 709 were admitted in various health facilities in the country. As of today, 104 patients are in ICU, 25 of whom are on ventilatory support, 70 on supplement oxygen and 9 patients under observation.

The positivity rate is expected to rise given that the number of infections keep going up day in day out, with the ministry urging Kenyans to stick to the regulations given, among which are putting on a face mask all the time, sanitizing and maintaining social distance among others.
