As KCPE Examinations kicks off in the country, three candidates who gave birth are among the candidates sitting the examinations at Toll station primary school in Saboti sub-county of Transnzoia. According to the school head Carolyne Ngaira, the students got expectant during last year’s covid-19 holidays but could not join others immediately after giving birth.

She stated that the school has made several efforts of reaching out to their parents to allow them to attend rehearsals last week and all are set for examinations.

Madam Ngaira noted that parents have failed in their responsibilities of guiding their children while at come claiming all the burden has been left to teachers. She says this has led several children to early pregnancies.  She has called upon all parents to take care of their children at home during this holiday as they are expected to be at home for seven weeks.

She however appealed to law enforcers to make sure those responsible for impregnating school children stiff  action is taken against them as a way of deterring other persons of similar characters

At Kitale school primary all candidates are sitting their examinations with covid-19 regulations adhered to. According to the school  Head Emel Sitienei, all health protocols have been considered among them the provision of water points for students and every person at the school as well as one-meter social distancing.

The headteacher however expressed his optimism of good results claiming he has the best students this year that will perform well. His sentiments were echoed by the headteacher for Shanti child care Ronald Makokha.
