Bungoma County Referral Hospital has received drugs worth 90 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Limited (KEMSA) which will be distributed to all hospitals and dispensaries across the county.
In his address to the press after inspecting the facility to ascertain its current status after renovations, Bungoma County Health CECM Dr. Anthony Walela said that the health department in Bungoma County has greatly improved after they took over office saying the only thing they are grappling with is space to store drugs.
Dr. Walela disclosed that having received the drugs patients across the county will now be at ease saying they will no longer be sent to buy drugs.
His sentiments were affirmed by the hospital medical superintend Dr. David Wanikina who said that the health department has greatly been transformed thanks to the goodwill of the governor and his other officers who have been committed to transforming the sector.
Health Chief officer Patrick Wandili saying it is a transformative agenda spearheaded by the health office to make sure people of Bungoma County get proper health care. He said the areas that have received a facelift include the kitchen area and acquiring a laundry machine that will ease the washing of beddings.
