The county assembly of Nandi has raised a lot of concerns over failure by the county government through the leadership of governor Stephen Sang to meet the revenue collection target.
The county assembly’s speaker Hon. Joshua Kiptoo while addressing journalists in his office, said the missed target on revenue collection by the county government has slowed down and paralyzed the implementation of projects across the county citing the need to form an ad-hoc committee to investigate the cause of the failure.
He added that the special ad-hoc committee will also investigate who is behind the benefits of revenue collected from Kiborgok Tea Estate.
He claimed that the assembly is more determined to bring independent human resource auditors to look into the population of employees in the county regarding the huge wage bills.
“We as the county assembly of Nandi are determined to bring independent human resource auditors to audit the county staff.” He affirmed.
The speaker revealed that the county government of Nandi has so far utilized only 22‰ for development and 77.7% for recurrent expenditure saying there is need for the county especially the finance department to be investigated thoroughly.
His calls come amid the ongoing headcount exercise being conducted in the county.
