Property valued at millions of shillings was destroyed after students of Soy County Polytechnic in Likuyani Sub-County went on rampage and burnt a dormitory at the institution.
According to the Soy sub-location assistant chief Bonevanture Lugado, the striking students burnt down a dormitory and also destroyed two vehicles used for driving and mechanic courses.
The assistant chief said majority of students lost their personal belonging after being reduced to ashes.
He said efforts by the few students, guards and other staff present at the institution to try and put off the fire were futile as it spread tremendously overwhelming them.

Police were forced to intervene and engaged the rioting students before managing to calm the situation.
However, Lugado said nobody was injured in the incident. There has been a lot of unrest since the schools resumed and if nothing is done, most learning institutions will continue losing valuable property that will help the future generation.
