Bungoma county senator and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Masika Wetangula has urged police to speed up investigation into the matter in which last week some youths from one of rival camp in Kabuchai by-election slated for Thursday 4th March this year beat up two Ford Kenya members and injured them seriously. Addressing the residents of Mulembe village, Mukuyuni ward in Kabuchai Constituency while campaigning and drumming support for his party candidate, Wetangula said without mentioning the rival camp that some youths are being used by politicians to intimidate youths from his camp after realizing that Ford Kenya candidate Mr. Majimbo Kalasinga is heading for victory.
He went ahead to say they know youths who did the uncouth act come from Chwele. Wetangula added that they had reported the matter with the DCI and police and asked them to act with speed to apprehend the youths and set them as an example and avoid such acts during the poll day in Kabuchai.
” As Ford Kenya party we believe in peaceful elections and we need the full support of the county commissioner and his team so that the people of Kabuchai can elect the leader of their choice without being intimidated or interfered by the leaders or people from outside. ” He said.
He went ahead and drummed up support for his candidate Majimbo saying he is the best person that suits the replacement of the late Hon. Mukwe since he worked closely with the late at some time performed the duties for Hon Mukwe while he was sick.
On matters of wrangles that have been seen in Ford Kenya, Wetangula said outside forces have been used to wreck the party and warned Tongeren Mp Dr. Eseli Simiyu and his counterpart Kanduyi Mp Wafula Wamunyinyi that they will finish their term as Ford Kenya MPs, but they have betrayed the party and are no longer needed. He laughed off the MP for begging ODM leader Raila Odinga for recognition to statehouse as a party leader during the burial of Mama Selina Wangamati, mother to Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati, adding that he was invited to State House because he had something important to offer and asked Wamunyinyi to keep off the matters of the party terming them as cheap sell-outs.
” I was invited to the statehouse because I had something important to offer as a party leader but Wamunyinyi should not think that having long hair and beards make him important and brain enough to have such invitations,” added Wetangula. The campaign was attended by many Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties MCAs who drummed up support for the Ford Kenya candidate, Ndivisi MCA Martin Wanyonyi Pepela saying voting for Majimbo would mean giving strength to the senator and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula to start national campaigns for the forthcoming general elections.
“Let’s give support one of our own Moses Masika Wetangula by voting in his candidate on 4th March so that we can allow him after that to go out and make friends for the next general elections,” said Hon Martin Wanyonyi. On his part Majimbo Kalasinga said he is up to the task to complete all the projects began by the late Hon Mukwe if he will be given a chance by the people of Kabuchai, adding that he has a single duty of continuing with the legacy of the late as he was his close friend and confidant. He said he is confident of winning but called upon the government to make sure that there is enough security in the constituency during and after voting day.
