Students from needy and vulnerable backgrounds who sat for last year’s KCPE examination and scored 350 marks and above who are residents of Bungoma County will have an opportunity of being absorbed in the Governor’s scholarship to further their education.
Bungoma County education Cecm Dr. Betty Mayeku says application for the scholarship program is now open in the next two weeks and those eligible must be residents of this County, must have sat for 2020 KCPE and scored 350 marks and above and must also come from poor backgrounds.
She added that so far 1500 students have benefited from the scholarship in Bungoma County saying with many having scored highly, Governor Wangamati has directed that in this year’s program only 1000 students will benefit from the program.
Dr. Mayeku disclosed that the application forms will be available at the wards administrator’s offices and therefore parents must pick the forms saying the program is free of charge and no one should solicit money to have them considered.
The Cecm further said that those who are successful will be subjected to renewal of their application each year to just show how competitive the program is, saying they must maintain good performance.
