A saloon car driver narrowly escaped death following a grisly road accident at Kona Mbaya trading center along Lumakanda – Manyonyi road in Lugari Sub County.
According to eyewitnesses the car was speeding from Lumakanda heading towards Manyonyi before it lost control, veered off the hit and broke a power pole before destroying a Celebration Recovery Church verandah at the center.

The driver who was alone in the vehicle escaped with minor injuries and he immediately fled the scene on a motorbike after the accident.
Members and leaders of the church led by pastor Edward Wandabwa and Harron Mutinye Busieka want the car owner to be compelled to renovate the church.
“The car is being towed away with no police around and we don’t know its owner yet our church has been destroyed. The owner should come and help repair the church,” said Mr. Busieka.
The incident has left the area in total blackout with businesspersons who depend on power to do their work appealing to the Kenya power and lighting company to quickly intervene and reconnect power.
