Teso North Member of Parliament Dr. Oku Kaunya has decried the increase in cases of insecurity in the area urging local leaders and the security apparatus to work together and put a stop at this perturbing trend.
Kaunya regretted that the increasing number of insecurity cases especially along commercial centers like Malaba, Kocholia, Angurai and Amagoro were discouraging prospective investors thus the need for concerted efforts in stopping the vice.
Several cases of killings and burglary have been reported in the Sub County for the last few months.
In one incident, a middle aged woman’s naked body was found in a bush in Kocholia.
It’s believed that she was raped and brutally murdered by her assailants elsewhere before transporting and dumping her body in the area.
Close to four watchmen have also lost their lives in the Sub County.
”This is so sad for our Constituency. I urge both local leaders and the national administration including the office of the Sub County commissioner, Chiefs and Assistant chiefs to work together to help alleviate the suffering inflicted to our people,” said Dr. Kaunya.
He asked the government to provide more police vehicles in the area to help the police carryout patrols effectively especially along porous areas noting that the available ones were few and in bad condition.
” I also urge the police to expedite investigations into the cases to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book as early as possible,” he added
