Former Matungu Member of Parliament Joseph Pius Wamukoya who served Matungu during Moi’s regime between 1997 to 2002 is dead.
Joseph Wamukoya was the first member of parliament of Matungu who was elected on Kenya African National Union (KANU) ticket.
The family said the former Mp has been ailing for a long time and has been occasionally receiving treatment at a Bungoma hospital.
Speaking to West Media, wife to the late Elizabeth Atieno Wamukoya said her husband has been sick for a long period and has rested peacefully.
Wamukoya was born at Marinda village Matungu Sub County Kakamega County in 1942.
While serving as an MP in the late Moi’s government he was appointed as an assistant minister in the ministry of lands.
Wamukoya was a lecturer at the university of Nairobi teaching veterinary services and he also taught at the Michigan state university in USA before being elected as an MP.
Matungu residence mourned Wamukoya as a man of integrity who was a great pillar to many.
