Tension is high at Keese primary school of Keiyo ward Trans Nzoia as parents expressed their fear of their children not engaging in sporting activities following the sponsors action of cultivating more than two acres of land that was a playing field of the school and
instead started engaging in farming activities by planting maize in the said field of the school.
Several parents who spoke to the media expressed their dissatisfaction how the whole issue has been handled claiming the sponsor of the school which is Reformed church has taken parents for a ride by ploughing the school playing ground without involving parents of the school who are stakeholders.
They alleged that the school has been in the area since 1958 and that some of them went to the same school and that they used to play in the field that was ploughed by the church noting that their kids risk engaging in sporting activities of the school that was vital in the upbringing of children as well as expressing their talents.
They have appealed to the education office in the area, as well as area Mp Ferdinand Wanyonyi to intervene and get a solution of saving the school’s image which is deteriorating if action is not taken.
Some parents threatened of transferring their children to other schools claiming they were not happy the way the government is treating the issue claiming they were not happy how the sponsor has turned the playing ground of their children into a farm of growing crops.
