The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) Nandi county branch has asked the church leadership from across the country to give directions and consider pushing for the developmental issues in order to enhance equity and stability of resources.
The National Council of Churches of Kenya chairperson Mr Cristopher Seurey said that the church leadership has a central role to play in giving directions and ensuring peace prevails all through no matter what.
Addressing journalists in Kapsabet, Seurey asked the county governments to sensitize/conduct public meetings on matters peace from the grass roots/community levels and within its borders to bring to a halt to border disputes.
He asked the National, Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to ensure peace in the country without any discrimination whatsoever adding that it is the mandate of the commission to maintain peace.
Concerning the issues of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), the council cited that there is no need for a referendum as per now since there is economic decline and issues of unemployment to many Kenyans because of Covid-19 pandemic that has hit hard our economy.
They cited that going for a referendum is making Kenyans suffer a lot as Covid-19 Pandemic had caused a lot of economic depressions to Kenyans and there isn’t access to county resources resulting in poor distribution.
The council insisted that the Building Bridges Initiative is causing divisions and misunderstandings among Kenyans because it was just imposed to them as there were no copies distributed to the public.
