Following yesterday’s announcement of KCSE  results in which a student Tom Miti Maluti  from Bikeke Boys secondary school in Transnzoia county was pronounced  by CS Education professor George Magoha as the most improved student in KCSE examinations as he joined the school with 199 marks and attained B- Grade in the final KCSE Examination.

There was joy at his school when the student showed up flanked by his colleague students and teachers in praise and dance thanking God for the far he has brought him.

The student 17 years  who aspires to become a mechanical engineering explained how he managed to score 199 marks and that couldn’t believe the marks that he attained as he wept on realizing he didn’t do well in KCPE claiming some of his relatives convinced his father for him to repeat class eight but his father refused.

He enrolled at the school with the least marks as other students and explained the secret behind his success was hard work, working together with teachers and doing all assignments above all discipline
that made him succeed in his examinations.

He has appealed to his fellow students who did their last KCPE and didn’t perform well never to give up calling upon them to enroll in secondary schools and work hard to achieve even better than him claiming learning was a continuous process.

He appealed to parents who get bitter with their children after performing dismally in their examination to give them another chance as each child has a potential of working hard and becoming an important person in society calling upon parents to stop rebuking their children whenever they don’t perform well and instead advised parents to encourage their children so that they can perform better.

The student explained how he received the message on Monday as the results were released by education CS stating that he was on farm planting trees and was only informed of his performance by his sister who heard his name mentioned on media and rushed in the house to follow the bulletin.

His sentiments were echoed by the deputy principal of the school Makongolo Tindi who explained that the student actually enrolled with less marks in KCPE and that he has performed well in beating some students who enrolled at the school with higher marks.

He noted that as the school had various candidates with several cases but Tom Miti was excellent in his work calling upon parents also never to underestimate students who perform poorly in their examinations but to guide them to attain great heights.

The school had 149 candidates with 43 attaining above C Plus and improved its mean from 5.5 to 5.7

Sister school St Teresa’s Bikeke Girls also improved in its performance from 5.5 to 6.2 with a population of 287 candidates 103 students getting entry points to university.

The school principal Eva Wendy claimed despite the school’s enrolment of students with lesser marks and the last Corona Virus effects, the school improved in the means score with the first candidate attaining A-that has made the school improve in its performance.

She explained the secret behind the success of her school was discipline, hard work, and good co-operation among students, parents and the board of management
