Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo has launched an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and oxygen plant at Vihiga County Referral Hospital.
Speaking during the launch he said the ICU unit has a capacity of 5 beds and the new oxygen plant has a high capacity of producing 300 litres of oxygen per minute.

He said locals were being forced to seek for those services from Hospitals in other Counties.
Ottichilo added that all facilities across the County will no longer buy oxygen from suppliers but can now have their cylinders filled at the County Referral Hospital.
The County Boss reiterated that the whole project cost the County Government Kshs. 70 million.

He noted that his administration is determined to improve health care in all health facilities across the County.
“The County Government has set aside funds to complete some of the projects in all facilities in the County. Our main aim is to make sure locals get quality health services,” he said.
