Members of West FM salaams clubs in Bungoma County have been urged to invest in education of their children as the best investment that will help them in future.
Addressing them during a merry go round of Mung’onye West FM salaams club in Nzoia village, Maraka ward in Webuye East sub county, Bungoma county special programmes advisor Caro Buyela lauded West Media fans groups for uniting and doing well especially in Bungoma county in terms of projects and promised to continue working closely with them but however encouraged them to give education of their children a priority as it is important and vital especially in the current life.
She said while she appreciates hard work and resilient members have put in different projects but they should be geared towards helping out members especially the less privileged to make sure that their children get education as she appreciated Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati for his best idea of having the county scholarship which has done a lot to less privileged but bright students to go to national and extra county schools adding that Bungoma County is heading in the right direction.
She criticized MCAs who are against the employment of village administrators and termed them as enemies of development and appealed them to join the governor and even add more funds to the scholarship kitty for it to benefit more needy cases in the society.
However, she promised to continue supporting West Media salaams clubs so that together they can continue empowering many people in the community who need support.
Her sentiments were echoed by Webuye ACK primary school teacher Amos Wafula who stated that education is very important and parents should make sure all the children regardless of gender or physically challenged must be taken to school.
He said he is the product of the support of the community, so he encouraged members to support each other in terms of education for the better of the community in future adding that he is ready to support the education initiative.
Alfred Wafula, the chairman of Bungoma North technical training institute students association appealed to parents not to sit with students who have completed forth form and did not manage to get direct entry to university that TTI’s are offering better courses and should allow them join given that government is giving financial support.
Wafula has requested the leadership of Webuye East constituency to find a way of making sure that Webuye East sub county also gets the technical training institute saying it is the only sub county in Bungoma County that does not have a Technical Training Institute.
Webuye East sub county West Media fans chairman Joseph Siangu asked those who haven’t joined groups to feel free and join West Media salaams clubs saying they are development oriented and have bigger plans for bigger projects in the future and none should be left behind.
He appreciated those who contributed for the group and asked them to continue supporting them so that they can accomplish their projects that they have earmarked.
The fans secretary Wilson Mwanzia asked the groups to continue following the health regulations in order to avoid being infected by Corona Virus but also reminded them to go for Covid-19 vaccination so that they can boost their immune system for their own good.
He added that they will not allow any member in their meeting if he will be not be wearing a mask correctly as they have to help the government in the fight against the Virus which he says is dangerous as it has claimed lives in the world.
Mung’onye salaams club chairman promised to utilize the funds well as intended and promised to be open and transparent so that accountability issues cannot arise adding lack of transparency and team work has sent many groups in oblivion something that he vowed should not be tolerated in his group.
