Susan Malilo,73, from Makutano area, Kanduyi Constituency Bungoma county is appealing to well-wishers to help her purchase a wheelchair to facilitate her movement in and out of her house.
Her trouble began as a heart attack which later extended to swelling of the left leg which made her unable to move.
According to her daughter, Sarah Malilo who addressed the press revealed that her mother started ailing in 2018 but family’s efforts to get her access medication has hit a snag because the family lacks funds to facilitate treatment.
Sarah adds that she has been moving from one health facility to the other seeking medication adding that her mother suffers a heart attack as well as high blood pressure.
“Hospital reports indicate that the genesis of this trouble is the heart attack, we have used all the resources we had to make sure that my mother receives medication,’’ she said.
Furthermore, Sarah revealed that she decided to quit her marriage to come and watch over her mother’s status because the father, Francis Malilo is an old man and there is nothing he can do to assist his wife.
“Death robbed this family and I am the only daughter who remained with my parents, now that my mother needed close monitoring I decided to leave my husband to come and nurse her,’’ Sarah stated.
She added that in May, 2018, Susan was hit by a stroke which paralyzed left side of her body, by then she used to roast maize and sell vegetables at Makutano market near Masinde Muliro University Bungoma branch.
Doctors had advised the family that she attends clinical check-ups every week but due to financial constraints the family is unable to raise the amount for treatment.
Francis Malilo, 86, the husband urged leaders and well wishers to chip in and help the family acquire a modern wheelchair that will enable her move.
“It’s my humble appeal to friends, leaders and even the church to help me raise funds to purchase a wheelchair for my wife, ‘’ he said.
