Emmanuel Bor and Nancy Chelagat are winners of this year’s 2021 twelfth edition of the Nandi re-discovery ten kilometre road race that was conducted in Nandi recently.
Bor who is the 2021 Eldoret city Marathon champion emerged on top after finishing and clocking a time of 28:21: 19 while Chelagat finished at 31: 30.
Bor was followed closely by Daniel Kiprotich who ran at a time of 28: 30: 19 while Victor Kipchirchir came in third position respectively.
The 2021 Eldoret city Marathon champion led the over five hundred athletes for the highly contested race which kicked off at Kapsasur area and ended at Namgoi mixed secondary school.
Bor while speaking to West media after emerging the winner on the race cited that he was well prepared and had hoped for the best thus will continue striving for the best and aiming higher in his sporting career.
The Nandi re-discovery organizing committee chair Mr Fred Kiptanui said that such races and sporting activities should be used as a way of giving back to the society in order to enhance the socio-economic activities of the region probably the North Rift region at large.
“We commenced the event ten years ago and it has picked up very well thus such competitive sporting activities should be utilized and used well in nurturing young talents for the betterment of the future,” Kiptanui affirmed.
The event is usually organized annually under tough competitions to promote environmental conservation and sensitize the public on the importance of keeping the environment through afforestation.
