The County government of Nandi major flagship projects have been allocated a huge share of the 2020/2021 financial budget estimates of Kshs 8.8 Billion.
Addressing journalists at the County Assembly buildings after presentation of the financial budget estimates to the assembly, the Chief Executive Committee Member of Finance and Economic Planning Hon Alfred Lagat cited that the budget large share allocated to the county flagship projects initiated three years ago by the governor include projects like Eliud Kipchoge training camp, Kipchoge Keino stadium Kapsabet, Kabiyet dairy plant, Nandi textile unit among other projects.
Lagat cited that the county is looking forward to completing all the flagship projects and operationalizing all the facilities across the county as this year’s budget highlight is completing, equipping and operationalizing of the facilities started by the county government.
“Agriculture, Sports and Health are among stalled projects governor Sang is looking forward to accomplish before the end of this financial year,” Lagat affirmed.
He added that among the earmarked projects for completion is the Milk processing plant in Kabiyet region, sporting facilities, Agriculture and health facilities across the county.
He added that Kshs 397 M has been allocated to NARIGP project under the agriculture sector in a bid to support coffee, potatoes and dairy processing plant which will be used to equip the Kabiyet farmers dairies before the end of this financial year.
“As the county government we are focused in accomplishing the economic development structures which are currently constitutional,” he added.
He stated that the huge wage bill is currently the major problem facing the county as revenue collection has dropped a lot but is hopeful that the county under the new revenue collection formula will receive a whooping Kshs 1. 5B from the previous year’s allocations.
