Mwamba trading center in Lugari Sub County was thrown into mourning after a night guard was found lying dead outside one of the shops.
Confirming the incident, Lugari Sub County police commander Bernard Ngungu said deceased Boyio Asembekha Mulama (69) had been hired to man several shops at the trading center before his body was discovered lying on a bench outside one of the shops.
He said the body was discovered by one of the businesspersons who reached the center at around six o’clock Sunday morning to open his business.
“The sentinel’s body was found lying on a bench outside one of the shops with his torch, machete and other tools of work beside him,” said the police boss.
He said the cause of his death has not been established disclosing that the body had no physical injuries.
“We suspect that he might have been suffering from pneumonia and he may have been overwhelmed by the cold at night,” said Ngungu.
According to locals the deceased who has been living alone has stayed in Mwamba for a long period of time and no one knows about his family.
However, from his National Identity card he originated from Kakamega District, Ikolomani Division, Shisele location, Shikokho Sub-location.
The body was removed by officers from Turbo police station and taken to Kimbilio funeral home in the neighboring Uasin Gishu county awaiting postmortem to establish the cause of his death as investigations into the incident were launched.
