Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong yesterday (Monday) held a meeting with his executive warning that he will not tolerate laxity as he moves to cement his legacy.
Addressing the County Executive Committee Members , Chief Officers and Directors during a regular status report meeting at Busia Agricultural Training Center, Ojaamong warned that his wish to leave a legacy in the remaining 13 months was being scuttled by some of his executive members.
“” I wanted you to work faster but as it is today, there is no tangible evidence that all is good. Until I hand over the reins of power to the incoming governor, let’s work hard to deliver for the people of our great county.’’ He said.
Ojaamong said he pushed the national government to release to counties their equitable share for the financial year ending 30th June, 2021 which it obliged and allowed an extension of two weeks for the absorption of the funds.
‘’ As we strive to pay pending bills for contractors and suppliers who completed their work I will not entertain officers who hide files for some clients with ulterior motives.
He took issue with the department of water for not giving him convenient reasons why the taps continue to be dry with no drop of water, adding that it will not be business as usual.
The governor’s tantrum comes at a time when the County has witnessed sky-rotting corruption allegations which has seen several departments brought to serious public scrutiny.
