Kakamega county Deputy Governor Prof Philip Kutima has refuted claims by a section of the media that Covid-19 patients admitted at the Kakamega Refferal hospital are asked to report at the facility with oxygen gas cylinders.
Prof Kutima has acknowledged the shortage of oxygen at the facility but has assured that the county government is already working towards curbing that.
In the month of June 2021, the county lost 29 lives to Covid -19 while 18 others are on treatment, three being in the ICU, two others on ventilators while 7 are on high flow oxygen support machines.
The Deputy Governor has called upon the residents to keep on observing Covid- 19 protocols to help curb the spread of the virus.
