A somber mood enveloped Mapengo village in Chekalini location, Lugari Sub County after the body of a 39 year old man was retrieved from river Kipkaren.
The body was discovered floating on the water by a resident who was cutting grass on his farm that borders the river.
He informed other villagers who rushed to the scene and managed to tie the body to prevent it from being further washed down the river.
The body was later identified to be of John Nasongo Ofusa a resident of Mayoyo village in the neighboring Lwandeti location.
According to the family the deceased who looked mentally disturbed and possessed with demons left home on Friday 30th , July 2021 but never returned and was last seen Saturday walking along the railway line near Lugari station market before his body was found in the river.
Officers from Frank police station removed the body and took it to Chebaiywa funeral home in the neighboring Uasin Gishu County as they launched investigations into the incident.
