Bungoma Women Representative Catherine Wambilianga has lashed at Bungoma County Commissioner Samwel Kimiti for planning an event at her Ndengelwa office grounds without informing her.
In an address to the press, Wambilianga said she was surprised to have seen an advanced team come to inspect the ground at her office grounds and on inquiry she was told that the County Commissioner together with the Bungoma first lady were planning a launch on a campaign against early pregnancies.
“I am fully in charge of events at my office and the County Commissioner did not have the courtesy of informing me in advance of any plans for such a launch, therefore I will not accept to have such an event take place here,” she said
Hon Wambilianga added that as an office they have been fully in operation and have followed up on such cases before, which include taking back girls who have been affected to school saying if anyone wants to join in the course should follow proper channels.
She called upon the County Commissioner not to be swayed politically saying issues of gender based which fall squarely under her office should not be politicized.
