After crawling on his stomach for over 23 years, it’s a relief to a disabled man from Sirende village, Lugari sub location, Lugari location in Lugari Sub County after receiving a wheelchair from members of Pambazuka Mumbo FM salaams club, a West Media Company owned radio station.
Speaking when they handed over the wheelchair to Mr. Joash Mutalii, the group’s chairman Mr. Isaac Nyongesa said apart from empowering its members economically through various development projects, the group also supports people living with disability in the area to ensure they live decently.
He said the group is committed to ensuring that those who need wheelchairs get them as well as constructing houses for those who don’t have, apart from ensuring disabled children get education.
Mutalii’s mother Beatrice Nafuna thanked the group for donating the wheelchair to her son saying he has suffered for long.
She said she has tried to apply for assistance for her son from various government and non-governmental organizations unsuccessfully and that the donation was a big relief to her.
On his part Mutalii could not hide his joy after receiving the wheelchair saying it will enable him to go back to school and realize his dreams.
The group has also promised to construct a house for Mutalii after witnessing the pathetic condition he lives in.
