Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has faulted the National government for sidelining the production of identification cards and instead putting its interest on production of Huduma number cards.

Addressing journalists in his office, Sang cited that the government is supposed to ensure that every Kenyan who has attained the age of having an identification card has acquired one in readiness for the coming 2022 general elections, but it is unfortunate that it has chosen to dwell on production and issuance of Huduma number cards which are not helpful to the young generation as compared to identification cards.

“I have noticed that the government is keen on producing Huduma number cards at the expense of giving young Kenyans the identification cards.” He expressed.

The Governor cited that one cannot register himself/herself as a voter using the Huduma number card as it is not a document that is helpful to them in many aspects, thus the departments in charge of registration of persons should continue producing the identification cards.

He insisted that as leaders they have no idea what Huduma number cards are meant for if not for useful work in terms of election purposes of preparing our Nation for the major task ahead in terms of elections.

He affirmed that the young people need the identification cards to help them join different forces like the national police service, the defense force, government programs and other institutions, thus should acquire this document immediately.
