Lugari MP Ayub Savula has through NG-CDF dispatched bursary cheques worth Sh29 million to boost education efforts for needy students in his constituency.

Addressing   secondary school heads from Lugari during the disbursement, Savula said he is giving priority to education which he noted is key to alleviating poverty.

He said his priority is to ensure that all needy students benefit from the constituency kitty and that none miss school due to lack of fees and thus help the Ministry of Education achieve its 100 percent transition policy.

The legislator, said MPs have the duty to help the government in pushing for the 100 percent transition from primary school to the secondary level of education using the NG-CDF kitty

Savula urged parents in his constituency to take education of their children seriously to escape debilitating poverty saying parents need to give education the attention it deserves.

“Investing in education will improve children’s access to school and in the long run improve socio-economic development across the country,” said Savula.

He encouraged the students to work hard in their studies and fly the Lugari flag high and at the same time appealed to school principals to continue encouraging their students as they learn.

He also implored upon the National government to speed up disbursement of capitation funds to schools since the continued delay reduces students’ competitiveness thus disadvantageous to them leading to poor performance.
