The Senate and the National Assembly houses have been asked to prioritize sports as a way of empowering youths and the upcoming generations.
This is according to Harambee stars coach Mr Jacob Mulee and his National Men’s volleyball team counterpart Mr Moses Epoloto who urged the government through the Ministry of Sports to consider prioritizing sports as a way of transforming youths lives.
Speaking in Nandi during the final Kogo’s 3rd talent edition, the duo explained that the young sports men and women of this nation especially from the grass roots lack facilities for training which they said is attributed to lack of enough resources to initiate modern sports resources within the community thus there is need to put more efforts in sporting sector.
“Both houses, parliament and the Senate should make sports a priority as it is one of the ways to reach out and empower the young generation.” They said.
They cited that the idea should involve the capacity building for professional trainers including the coaches to develop and achieve a remarkable sporting in the country thus the two houses should ensure this is achieved by prioritizing the sporting sector.
‘We want the government monetize sports in the country so as to boost economical standards of the talented youths both in the athletics and ball games players as it is an economic activity the government should heavily invest into it.” They affirmed.
The two officials noted that sports has largely put the country into the worldwide map of sporting activities thus the National government should exploit its glory in enhancing the country’s economy for development.
Furthermore, they have appealed to the government to increase funds allocation to the sporting sector saying the yearly National treasury allocations are not enough to cater for sporting up to grass roots.
