University graduates across the country have been asked to consider using the skills acquired in their education to get self employed regarding that job markets have become so competitive to an extend of majority failing to get employment.
This is according to Nandi County Deputy Governor Dr. Yulita Mitei who said that young generation should utilize well knowledge and skills acquired in higher learning institutions to transform their lives instead of waiting for government jobs which are more competitive.
Mitei noted that majority of youths have degrees but are idling in their communities instead of innovating on things that will transform their lives thus appealed to them to come out strongly and use whatever knowledge and skills they gained from their higher learning institutions to improve their lives.
The Deputy Governor moreover, called on students joining higher learning institutions and TVET colleges to undertake marketable courses that will benefit them in their future.
“I want to urge our youths to choose their courses wisely on what is good for them in the near future.” She said.
She urged youths joining various institutions to choose their career paths wisely to avoid future regrets citing that courses like nursing, education among others are very marketable.
She also noted that Technical training institutions are good as they equip learners with knowledge and skills that will help them employ themselves in future urging youths to use this opportunity wisely.
