Kimilili Mp Didmus Wekesa Barasa has lashed at the government for implementing the Competence Based Curriculum saying it has brought more harm and confusion among pupils and other stakeholders in the education sector.
Addressing parents at Kitayi primary school after launching seventeen classrooms and an administration block, the area Mp said the government through the Ministry of Education should have consulted before implementing the curriculum.
He says it will be traumatizing for a pupil in class six who will be the last in the older curriculum to go up to class eight in comparison with those in grade five whom it is said will be joining junior secondary saying those who are the last in the previous curriculum will feel inferior.
He therefore proposed that the government should consider getting back to the 8 4 4 curriculum and have a systematic way of introducing a new curriculum in the country saying it needs to be well structured.
Hon. Barasa further differed with the education CS Professor George Magoha who had said that the community is not supposed to hire a school bus to run their errands saying his sentiments were misplaced as the buses are not bought by the ministry’s money.
I will soon be delivering a bus to Kibingei Friends secondary school and the CS has no authority to micromanage how the school will be using the bus, the community has a right to use the bus as it was bought through the NGCDF,” he said
The Mp further promised to keep on funding many development projects in the constituency saying in comparison with other leaders who have been there his track records of three years outshines them combined.
