Lugari Deputy County Commissioner William Lenaremo has assured residents maximum security as they celebrate Christmas and New Year.

Speaking to media Lenaremo said security agencies in the Sub-County have been put on high alert to deal with insecure activities that may interfere with peace of the locals during this festive season.

He said chiefs and their assistants together with Assistant County Commissioners have been briefed on what to do in this festive season, the time traveling and celebrations activities are expected to rise.

Lenaremo said all security organs within the Sub-County will have no time to rest because political rallies and their safety demand their maximum attention.

The DCC however said he has instructed chiefs and their grassroots team to ensure alcohol is not sold to persons below 18 years and also organize the arrest of drug traffickers in villages who would want to ruin the lives of innocent youths.

“We are aware that certain ill intended people want to ruin the lives of young people by selling them hard drugs. We will not allow it,” warned Lenaremo.

He said they will order the closure of bars and other licensed liquor selling joints that break the laws on Consumption and Use of Alcohol.

Lenaremo also cautioned the locals that consuming illicit brew or any other unregulated alcohol is illegal and dangerous to their health.

He vowed to continue with crackdown on the use of outlawed liquor, selling of contraband goods and consumption of hard drugs and substances.

He directed chiefs that all visitors in every village be identified by ‘Nyumba Kumi’ officials as a key step to deal with insecurity cases.

“It is important that we know the intention of visitors and when they will leave because not all of them have positive minds,” he said.

He added that police have confirmed their high alertness working throughout to curb any situation deemed to disturb people this high season.
