A woman from Mugumu village, Marakusi sub location in Lugari is nursing serious injuries after she was attacked by an unknown man while fetching firewood in Lugari forest.
According to Dorcas Ambia she was in the company of her two friends before a club wielding man emerged from inside the forest and started moving towards them.
She said sensing their lives were in danger as the man approached them they started running away as the man followed after them.
Unfortunately, she stumbled over a log and fell before the man attacked her with the club beating her mercilessly without uttering any word.
“He continued beating me with club smashing by hands as I cried for help,” said Ms Ambia.
She said her friends summoned courage later and went back to rescue her as they also cried for help before the man escaped and disappeared into the forest.
Ms Ambia who suffered serious head injuries and broken hands was rushed to a private hospital for First Aid before being transferred to Turbo sub county hospital and later to Webuye sub county hospital where one of her fingers which had been seriously damaged was cut off.
“It’s so sad that part of my body has been buried while I am still alive, and I still don’t understand my crime to deserve this,” said Ambia.
