With five days remaining before the closure of the second phase of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise leaders in Likuyani Constituency have been asked to mobilize unregistered eligible voters to take advantage of national mass voter registration and be enlisted before 6th of this month.
Speaking to West Media at the IEBC office in Kongoni, the Constituency IEBC Coordinator Enoch Otara urged government administrators, political and religious leaders to emphasize the need for voter registration.
Otara emphasized that leaders are respected personalities in the communities since they sway the public to embrace government agenda, policy or opinion.
Otara called on the local leaders to use public gatherings to emphasize the importance of mass voter registration.
“We are only asking youths or any other unregistered persons to use this opportunity and make their votes count in this year’s August general elections,” he said.
The IEBC boss asked the residents to treat elections as a very important exercise which they will use to elect leaders they wish will front their development agenda.
“I am reminding them that it is their democratic right to choose leaders they want only when they have been enlisted as voters,” Otara added.
He said that unpopular leaders will always be elected if eligible persons fail to participate in a general election.
“If you fail to participate in general elections, you will still be electing leaders who are unpopular among yourself,” concluded the IEBC Coordinator.
