Angry locals at Matunda area of Kiminini Sub County Trans Nzoia demonstrated before torching houses and sugar cane farms belonging to suspects who have been stealing herds of cattle from the area.
The locals woke up to shocking news where a hybrid cow was stolen from the resident by the name Metrine Waswa in the area where they skinned the cow leaving behind carcasses an incident that infuriated locals who descended on suspects one called Meshack Chalicha and his father Zebedee Chalicha with clubs and whips and torched a house belonging to one suspect, burnt a three acre land sugarcane belonging to the suspect before frog matching them to the nearest Administration police camp of Matunda as they were booked to Kiminini police post awaiting to be taken to court over the allegations.
They said there have been rampant cases of livestock theft for the past one month and that they were tired of the vice that has been in the area blaming security agencies of the area that they claimed was sleeping on their job.

They further added that they suspected the two men arrested were behind a series of incidences that have led them losing several cows within a span of one month an action that has made them take the law in their hands in disciplining the culprits.
Acting chief of the area Sammy Yaola confirmed the incident adding that there has been a series of livestock theft in the area with suspects escaping the dragnet of security officers in the area.

He however condemned the increased cases of livestock theft in the area calling upon locals and other businessmen to be weary of some culprits selling livestock in the area appealing them to always inquire about the chief of the locality that the livestock comes from before purchasing them.
The area administrator called upon locals to be cautious whenever they take law in their hands urging them to work together with local administrators in solving cases of insecurity as well as loss of property in the area for action to be taken against the suspects.
He cautioned law offenders in the area who will be found on the wrong side of the law of dire consequences calling upon locals to remain vigilant in tackling cases to do with security of the area.
