Nandi governor Stephen Sang has criticized the report by the National Cohesion & Integration Commission of mapping Nandi as among counties regarded as a possible hot spots regions for violence before, during and after the August polls.
Addressing faithfuls at Mosombor in Aldai constituency during Sunday worship, Sang strongly refuted the report by the Commission saying Nandi as a region is a peaceful county that will never engage in such dirty politics.
He told off NCIC to revisit its report well as Nandi county at large as a cosmopolitan area has never engaged in any wrangles or breach of peace whatsoever, thus is a peaceful co existence county.
“I want to assure the National Cohesion & Integration Commission that Nandi is peaceful and has been championing for peace throughout.” Sang added.
The county boss affirmed that as Nandi governor he will never allow any breach of law or peace especially during this time when the country is preparing for the August general elections thus there is no need for the Commission to worry.
The Commission in its report has identified about twenty three counties to be possible hot spots regions for violence before and after the August polls.
The counties include Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Bomet, Kericho, Homa bay, Nyamira, Kakamega, Vihiga, Marsabit, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Bungoma, Lamu, Isiolo, Trans Nzoia, Garissa, Siaya, Murang’a, Nakuru and Kiambu respectively which the commission say need to be monitored during the electioneering period.
