Politicians seeking to be elected in different positions in Likuyani Sub-County have been urged to persuade electorates peacefully without intimidation and use of chaos.
Speaking to West Media in his Kongoni office, Likuyani Council of Elders Secretary Cyprian Shisanya said electorates expect peaceful campaigns from politicians who are already seeking votes in the Sub-County.
Shisanya noted that almost all Kenyan communities have settled in the Sub-County and they do not expect political leaders to breed seeds of division which can destroy peace enjoyed for many years.
“All Kenyan tribes live in Likuyani peacefully, as council of elders we denounce politicians who thrive in chaos during their campaigns,” Shisanya emphasized.
He warned that reckless abusive language breeds chaos during the election period and urged leaders to keep off.
Instead, Shisanya wants political leaders to be the leading agents of peace during their campaigns so that communities living together like Likuyani Sub-County become a good example to the rest of Kenyans.
“We invite all politicians seeking votes but they should avoid reckless and abusive words,” Shisanya said.
The Council Secretary added that Likuyani residents have their leaders of choice in their minds starting from local to national positions and therefore they should not be coerced to elect certain leaders.
“I am sure people here know whom to elect, starting from Member of County Assembly up to the higher Presidential Office,” he said.
