A 25-year- old man killed his 62 year old father after hitting him with a brick on the head in Punjap village, Sinoko location, Likuyani sub county.
According to the deceased’s wife Annrose Nafula Shiundu, her husband Bernard Wafula doesn’t stay at home but whenever he comes back it’s always wrangles and argument with the family and neighbors.
She said she had called him to help her construct a new house before an argument erupted between them leading to his death.
“I had bought iron sheets to roof the house and informed my husband to come and lay the foundation for the house but he refused. However, after my daughter called and lied to him that I had started the construction, he rushed home thinking I had built the house so that he could demolish it but since I know the Luhya traditions, a woman cannot put up a house without the presence of her husband I couldn’t go on with the construction without him,” said Nafula.
She said when he found that no construction was going on he instructed his son Collins Imbati to cut some trees for the construction.
He later began the construction towards the end of last week but every evening he asked for money to buy ‘some tablets’ to swallow before he could sleep.

“After a day’s job he always ask for money to buy ‘panadol’, which I have been giving him for the past four days,” said Nafula.
However, when she failed to give him the money he became violent , abusive and started fighting everyone in the compound threatening to either kill her or the son.
Neighbors tried to intervene but they were overwhelmed since the victim also turned violent against them shouting that he must kill someone.
Nafula said she ran for her life and sought refuge in the neighborhood, leaving the husband and son chasing after each other before the son took a brick and hit the father on the head, killing him on the spot.
After the incident the son ran towards Nzoia River threatening to commit suicide by throwing himself in the river.
“My son ran towards the river complaining of the frequent wrangles and even threatened to jump into river Nzoia. This is hurting, I don’t know where my son is and my husband is also dead,” said Nafula
Confirming the incident, Sinoko location chief Albert Wekesa said DCI officers are investigating the incident and launched a manhunt for the suspect who disappeared after the incident.
