A somber mood enveloped Seregeya village, Seregeya sub location in Likuyani sub county after the body of a nine year old girl believed to have been defiled before being murdered was discovered dumped near Seregeya police post.
Confirming the incident Seregeya sub location assistant chief Meshack Shivina said the body was discovered by a resident who was passing on a nearby footpath.
According to Shivina the body which had serious visible injuries on the neck had been dumped less than 200 meters from Seregeya police post.
He said its suspected the minor was defiled by her assailant before being murdered and her body carried and dumped at the scene at night.
The body was later identified to be of nine year old Branice Alivitsa who is a grade three pupil at Victory Academy and a resident of Chepkoilel village within the sub location.
According to the father Silas Hamisi and mother Agnes Namukuru their daughter went missing Sunday afternoon with efforts to search for her were in vain before receiving the shocking information of her body dumped at the scene.
The body was removed by officers from Turbo police station and taken to Kimbilio funeral home in Uasin Gishu county as they launched investigations into the incident.
