Two houses were torched on revenge mission by angry residents of Sango village in Kiliboti sub location in Matete Sub County after the body of one of them was discovered floating in River Nzoia.
According to Chevaywa location Chief Alex Goricho, the body of a male adult identified as Johnson Mitume was spotted floating on River Nzoia and after police taking the body to Webuye District Hospital Mogue reports emerged that David Wanyonyi the brother to the late and other villagers had torched two house belonging to the deceased’s uncle, Ezekiel Makhanu on allegations that his wife Emily Wakasa was the cause of the death.
The area Chief assisted by police from Matete Police visited the scene and evacuated Emily Wakasa due to insecurity.
Chief Goricho said the angry locals were demanding ‘to deal’ with the wife of Makhanu for initiating the death of Mitume.

“Together with the police we have managed to control the irate mob who were determined to cause more destruction in the home of Makhanu who demanded to discipline his wife,” Chief Goricho said.
He however regretted that Kiliboti sub location has always enjoyed peaceful periods and the reported incident remains isolated.
The Chief called on the public to remain calm as police dig into the incident but discouraged them from taking law into their own hands.
