The body of former Mt. Elgon MP John Bomet Serut arrived today in his home in Kimobo village, Elgon ward Mt. Elgon constituency.
The former MP’s body was received by hundreds of mourners from the region.
According to his funeral arrangement, viewing of the body by residents will be tomorrow (Friday) as his burial ceremony will be held at Kapsokwony primary school grounds then will be laid to rest on Saturday 5th March 2022.
Elected leaders and government officials will attend.
Serut died a fortnight ago in Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with bone marrow cancer.
Serut represented Mt. Elgon constituency in 2002 then was unseated in 2007 by Fred Kapondi.
In 2013, Serut was elected for another term as an independent candidate and lost the seat again to Fred Kapondi of Jubilee party in 2017.
