Former Saboti MP David Wafula is banking on his development track record during his tenure between 2013-2017 as a stepping stone in his bid to reclaim the seat during the August 9 general elections.
Wafula who is eyeing the seat on a Democratic Action Party- Kenya (DAP -K) ticket said his development projects are still evident in the constituency when compared to those of the current MP Caleb Amisi.
“I launched several projects including 19 primary and secondary schools. I seek to keep on with this development agenda,” Wafula spoke at Sitabicha area during the commissioning of a bridge constructed by Matisi MCA aspirant Alice Barasa.
The former legislator challenged the electorate to scrutinize all aspirants for the seat based on their track records to make the right choice instead of falling prey to political rhetoric by his opponents.
“Everybody should highlight what they have done for the residents of Saboti in their individual capacities as they seek their support in the coming general elections. We should avoid empty promises,” said Wafula.
The former legislator also called on the residents of Trans Nzoia County to keenly scrutinize gubernatorial aspirants so as to elect a leader who will offer a solution to the socio-economic challenges in the county.
“You should elect a governor who has the interests of this county at heart such that you can reach out to him for assistance whenever you need him. This county has not achieved the benefits of devolution,” he asserted
Wafula did not defend his seat in 2017 after he contested the manner in which the Jubilee party nominations were conducted arguing they were unfair.
Other aspirants who have declared interest in the seat are area senator Dr. Micheal Mbito (Jubilee Party), Joseph Pepela (Ford Kenya), Jonas Kuko (UDA)
