Youths in Malava constituency want more slots allocated to those trying their luck in the police recruitment exercise being undertaken countrywide.
Malava constituency in this year’s recruitment was allocated sixteen slots with three only being female while thirteen were for male.
According to the officer in charge of the exercise, Matete OCPD Givinalis Baraza, Kakamega North was allocated sixteen slots with 13 being for males and three females. The turnout was huge with close to over five hundred coming to try their luck in the exercise.
” We have requirements that we look at to ensure that every recruit meets to be able to qualify. Physical outlook, teeth structure and academic qualifications are also factored,”said Baraza.
However a section of those who turned up to try the exercise feel some of the requirements are not in line with what the job requires.

“This is my seventh year to turn up for recruitment, I love this job and am now 27 years old, when will I get a chance? They are saying I have wrong teeth, where do they expect me to repair them unless is uprooting all?” Wondered Victor Chitunga
Many youth have been turning up during police recruitment with the hope of getting employment unsuccessfully.
Kenya Police Service had announced to recruit 5,000 Police Constables across the country where they targeted holders of at least D+ (plus) in KCSE but not university graduates to get rid of salary disputes.
