Motorists and other road users have been cautioned to be careful while using Kolongolo -Keiyo road which is under construction following increased cases of road accidents resulting in loss of life and injuries.
While addressing mourners who gathered at Kibeti village in Kwanza constituency Trans Nzoia county during the internment ceremony of Grace Adongo, a three and half year old girl who was hit to death by a hit and run vehicle which was over speeding while heading home from a nearby posho mill, the area chief Alex Wakabete has raised a red flag over the alarming number of those cases asking motorists to be cautious.
“We have received many cases of road accidents in our office involving motorists and we are worried, recent case being of this young soul Adongo, and we can not watch this continue happening,” he lamented
He also used the opportunity to urge drivers to be on the lookout to put to a halt such unnecessary and careless accidents that can be prevented.
The local administrator said the construction of the road has come with a lot of anxiety to some road users who are not minding the speed limit by driving at high speed not considering other road users including pedestrians.
Wakabete has called on traffic officers to arrest those who flout traffic rules on the road to safeguard pedestrians.
He also urged parents to be vigilant not to allow their children to play along the road as another measure not to have a replica of what befell Adongo.
Festus Natili who eulogized her daughter painfully as tears flowed freely down his cheeks in front of the mourners that had joined him and the family condemned the incident and called on relevant agencies to move with speed to ensure the culprits are apprehended.
“The only thing the family wants is justice for our daughter whose star has been dimmed and what as a family we are urging the police to ensure that the suspect is arrested and justice is realised,” said Natili amid sobs.
The late Adongo who was set to join PP1 this year in May, was the third born child of Festus Natili an ardent fan of WEST FM RADIO.
